Josiah appears with his mother's second husband and family under the name Josiah Hill in the 1870 census (his mother had married Silas Hill). Believe Josiah to use the name VanHook as an adult, appearing in South Dakota to claim land in the 1880's. Believe he died in Charles Mix, South Dakota, on 26 November 1905 - and is buried in Spokane, WA.
