      This Indenture made this the fourteenth day of February being the year one thousand eight hundred and forty eight between Nathaniel Laird of the county of Hopkins and State of Kentucky of the first part and Jacob Vanhook of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Nathaniel Laird for and in consideration of the Sum of forty seven dollars to him in hand paid by the said Vanhook the receit whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Laird hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give bargain sell and convey unto the said Jacob Vanhook, his heirs forever two certain tracts or parcels of land lying and being in the said County of Hopkins and on the head waters of Stover creek. Beginning on a black oak running thence North 75 west 50 poles to a white oak thence South 10 East 82 poles to a black oak and a white oak thence 44 poles to a hickory thence 44 west 66 poles to theBeginning. Containing by survey twenty and a half acres to the same more or less and adjoining the lands of the said Laird and Eli L Neall and one on the waters of Deer creek and bounded as follows Beginning on a black oak running East 42 poles to a white oak thence North 42 poles to the Beginning containing by survey Eleven acres to the same more or less and adjoins the lands of the said Laird this appertanances To Have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land unto the said Vanhook his heirs and assignees forever to their own proper use and behalf and the said Nathaniel Laird for himself his heirs and assignees the said tracts or parcels of land their appertanances unto the said Jacob Vanhook against the claim or claims of himself the said Nathaniel Laird his heirs & assignees forever against the claims of all and every other person whatsoever to warrany and forever defend unto the said Jacob Vanhook. In Testimony whereof the said Nathaniel Laird hath hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal this the day and date above uter
