      Gerald N. Vanhook, 72, of Clifty, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at his home.

      He was born Jan. 3, 1930, at Mundell, the son of Walter and Blanche Pinkley Vanhook.

      Mr. Vanhook was a lifelong farmer, and he had retired from the Rogers Public Schools. He was a Baptist, and he loved gospel singing.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cleland "Shorty" Vanhook, and Truman "Bud" Vanhook; and a sister, Bonnie Tophan.

      Survivors include his wife, Mabel Kirk Vanhook, of the home, whom he married on May 21, 1950; two daughters and a son-in-law, Geraldine Bridges of West Bend, Wis., and Peggy and Kenny Comer of Huntsville; a brother, Richard Vanhook of Springdale; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

      Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 19, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Dean Morris and the Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Interment followed in the Rambo Cemetery, under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.

      Pallbearers were Kenny Comer, Ron Pearson, Carl Overbey, Jerrod Comer, Johnny Montgomery, and Doyle Vanhook. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Sharp, Eugene Roles, Claude Phillips, Denny Roles, and Perry Johnson.
